Growing up in Cochrane, Alberta, Tyler Wong is no stranger to hockey. In fact, he’s made it his career, playing with teams like the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Toronto Marlies, Quad City Mallards, the Chicago Wolves, and most recently, the Kunlun Red Star, in the Russian Kontinental Hockey League.
Tyler has spent just as long working for his community. He received the Western Hockey League’s “Humanitarian of the Year Award” twice, for his charity work. In 2016, he and some of his his teammates donated $5 for every goal they scored, to KidSport Lethbridge and Taber program, raising over $6000 for the organisation. In 2017, Tyler and his teammates fundraised again, raising over $13,000 for Kidsport Lethbridge.
He also volunteered with minor hockey in Lethbridge, was a driving force behind the “Hurricanes Spread Christmas Cheer” program, and helped students at Dr. Gerald B. Probe Elementary School with their studies. Tyler has also done charity work with his Chicago Wolves team in 2019.
In addition to his WHL humanitarian awards, he was also the winner of the Dan Snyder Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Chicago community during the 2018-19 season.
Dr. Jamila has been treating Tyler for a variety of issues with very positive results.
