Winter has arrived, it’s true. Time to put away the bike. Sigh.
What if we told you that you didn’t have to give up riding your bike when the snow flies? Many people have discovered the joy of fat bikes! Fat tire bikes, or “Fatbikes” (named due to the size of their tires) have become one of the most popular segments of the cycling world. Especially here in Calgary where winter has a habit of lingering.
You can fat bike within the Calgary city limits, popular spots include Nose Hill and Fish Creek park. But you’re not limited to staying in town. West Bragg Creek, Kananaskis, and the Canmore Nordic Centre all boast amazing opportunities to put your fatbike through its paces!
But fatbikes aren’t just for off road! Many people commute to work and back all winter using their fatbikes!
